One of the clearest ways to find other Shopify stores within your location is to search your product on Google to find out what’s coming up. Doing so may not be able to pull all the competitors up because some may be very new and Google is not running ads.

If you’re not sure whether the results are from Shopify stores or not, an easy-to-use trick is to look at the source code. To view the page source, right-click anywhere on the page and select ‘View page source

BuiltWith combines a variety of tools that allow you to see what software a website uses, along with its basic keywords and the platform on which it was built.

It is difficult even to enter the URL of the website you want to analyze. A list of all the tools and software it has found is then returned by BuiltWith. BuiltWith will tell you if the store is built on Shopify.

Using MyIP.ms

Myip.ms is another great tool you can use. It runs a scan on the IP address to gather information such as the location of the IP address, the average daily visits, the date the URL was first registered, and, of course, the hosting company.

If you type in another store’s URL into their search engine, you’ll see results similar to the ones above. As you can see, this company uses Shopify.

You can find a Shopify store by scrolling to the bottom of the page and looking at the footer; you might see a little tag saying ‘Powered by Shopify.’

This can be edited out of the store with relative ease, but not all Shopify users are aware of this, as in the example above.
